Corrections Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
Ask Dr. Umer is written and medically reviewed by a practising doctor. We work hard to get every fact right — but when we get something wrong, we fix it openly and quickly.
How to report an error: Email contact@askdoctorumer.com from any article page, or use the contact form at /contact/. Tell us the article, the sentence you believe is wrong, and the correct information with its source if you have one. We reply within 1 day (the same response time as our contact page promises).
What happens next:
- Every report is investigated by the author — a factual error is never
left for "later".
- Correction — a factual mistake (wrong figure, wrong date, wrong
name) is fixed in the article itself, and a dated correction note is added at the bottom of the article stating what changed and when.
- Update — new information that changes the picture (for example a
new official tally) is added with a new date; the old figure stays visible with its original date so readers can see what changed.
- Clarification — wording that was accurate but could be
misunderstood is rewritten, and the change is noted.
- Retraction — if an article's central claim turns out to be wrong,
the article is withdrawn and replaced with a dated retraction notice explaining why.
Significant corrections are always dated. Minor corrections (spelling, grammar, formatting) are fixed silently.
News articles get priority. Because news figures change daily, every news item carries its verification date, and figures are re-checked on the day of publication. If an official figure changes after publication, the article is updated the same day with a dated note.
